Literature Text

And forever lost, you
Surrender-
To a suffocating oblivion.

I seek reminiscence not, yet here phantoms of "used-to-be"s lurk about and haunt even pebbles.
What am I but a forgotten, meaningless pebble? For on these streets lie a thousand broken bonds,
And I can't find ours.

Carves a shadow, your
Far-away soul -
no face lingers.

Winds, the echo of yesterday they are; but the buildings still, today, shiver and rattle.
Am I, now, to shake and hear only echoes? A lifetime of memories ago, you kept me steady.
But empty buildings, as me, grow old and forgotten too fast and too soon.

Always one day ahead,
Feet leading to roads
Paved in memories.

At the gates of Present, I dare not step further; and the sound that retracing our past makes, seducing lullaby it is.
Am I, truthfully, dreaming of Neverlands that died long ago? These lands, they are childlike illusions,
And I wish this was just a hide-and-seek.
Written while listening to "Eternity - Memory of Lights and Waves", from Final Fantasy X-2. Beautiful song, but don't believe the comments left in that place, they are LIES. The game totally sucks.
Still, Square Enix can never make bad music.

First chapter of my "Souls" series... set in the city of mighty winds, which are so strong they could take your soul away, this is a sort of haibun.
I had never written one before, so I hope it doesn't utterly fail. :(

This is not romance, so that should make you realise that the "you" which is missed may not be a different person from the "I" that is speaking. There are parts of ourselves that abandon us.

And thank you for reading.

Second chapter, Masks at Venetia.
Last chapter, Kept by Notre-Dame.

Edit: I forgot to mention, the preview image is a street of the village where I live.
